KYLE HOUSE

SUTHERLAND, SCOTLAND

Stay where the world can’t find you. Tucked away at the mouth of the Kyle of Tongue, Kyle House is a design-lovers haven.

Kyle House is a carefully designed escape for a couple or a solo adventurer. Set within a clearing in the rural north coast of Scotland, this converted cottage is in much demand as a retreat from the everyday. Clean, Danish design interacts with the wild landscape surrounding the cottage to make for a calm, quiet place.

Contained within the stone and lime plaster outer shell, Kyle House is conceived as a series of finely detailed oak boxes, defining spaces within and around them. In reference to the connection with the natural ground outside, the ground flooring is constructed of a locally-mined Caithness stone, heated to be warm underfoot. Danish oak, bespoke cabinetry and classic furniture complete the interior.

THE SPACE

Kyle House is a self-catering cottage for up to two people. The ground floor is a flexible space, with a cosy living room and an open fire leading into a bespoke oak kitchen, and separated by a shower room and closet.

The ground floor is flanked by two large windows looking out over the wild.

Up the solid oak staircase is an open plan sleeping space, with a large metal tub and wet room overlooking the landscape and a large, inviting bedroom with a small library.

Outside is a BBQ and outdoor dining area.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Kyle House is offered on a self-catering basis only. That gives you the freedom to cook whatever you like during your stay. We have stocked the kitchen with some good staples, including salt & pepper, cooking oil, tea, coffee, milk, butter and some pasta.

GOOD TO KNOW

Our cottages are family-friendly, and we are happy to provide a cot and a high chair if you wish. Unfortunately, because of the finish of this cottage, we cannot welcome pets. You can use your cottage at any time after 4pm on the day of arrival. We ask that you depart by 10am on your final day. This cottage is available for a minimum five night stay.
